Partnership for A Healthier America

Project overview

The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) is a nonprofit founded alongside former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative in 2010. PHA collaborates with the private sector to reshape the food industry in the pursuit of health equity. The organization brings together innovators and industry leaders to exchange ideas and foster change, aiming for healthier lives for all Americans.

This project was a national rebranding effort for the nonprofit, focused on showcasing their impact on food equity and community health. The video aimed to bring visibility to PHA’s behind-the-scenes role in empowering local partners—organizations doing grassroots work to ensure access to nutritious food.

While PHA intentionally remains in the background, this video brought their mission forward, emphasizing their collaborative model and widespread impact. Through authentic storytelling, real interviews, and a powerful voiceover from Michelle Obama, the final piece captured both the heart and the reach of their work.

Our most prominent challenge was scheduling. On-site, time was a factor—though not a major issue—but we did run into some unexpected delays, like the subway noise at the Chicago Housing Authority. Fortunately, we had incredible on-screen interviewees who were patient and understanding. Despite hard end times, with people needing to return to work or school, we managed to capture everything we needed. In fact, we even had time to squeeze in a smaller sit-down interview, making the most of our shoot.

A 95-second cinematic video featuring interviews with multiple individuals. These interviews were strategically captured to be repurposed for future video content, helping to maximize storytelling opportunities while minimizing production costs. Despite navigating tight schedules, we created a video that not only modernized PHA’s brand, but helped solidify their voice as a trusted, mission-driven organization.

Through this project, we were able to authentically capture both the broader mission of PHA and the essential, on-the-ground work of their partner organizations. By prioritizing real people and their lived experiences, the video reflects the spirit of collaboration behind this organization. It was a privilege to document such meaningful work and to help bring visibility to the people and partnerships making a tangible impact in their communities.
