Meet the Team: John Considine

The Veracity team is pleased to welcome its newest team member John Considine. John joins the  team by way of South Lake Tahoe, CA with 16 years of experience in the commercial video production world. We sat down with John for a quick Q&A to discuss his career in videography and what he looks forward to most about joining the studio.

How did you get started in the industry?
I started as a production assistant with FUEL TV on the Camp Woodward show while in college at PSU. The lightbulb moment of my media career was when I first was handed a camera and shown how to shoot slow motion and time lapses. It changed the way I looked at the world and shaped my creative approach to projects.

What’s your favorite part about working as a Video Editor?
I really enjoy all of the creative control over the final product. Being the editor you get to watch every shot from every angle and decide how best they fit to tell a story

What has been the biggest learning curve for you and how did you overcome it?
The biggest learning curve was all of the computer knowledge you need to learn just to be able to edit. A lot of learning this was researching, and overcoming problems as they arose. Keeping up with the constant shifts in technology is one of my favorite parts of the job. New technology and software allows you to experiment and tell stories in ways that are previously impossible.

Do you have some advice for people who want to break into the industry as an editor?
Study films and television shows you enjoy, and always ask yourself, how did they do that?

What are you most excited about as the new Senior Video Editor?
I am excited to collaborate with the creative team at Veracity on nationwide projects that can make a real world impact.
